Hope

Imagine finding yourself at the bottom of a deep, dark pit. You are frail in body and spirit. The walls are nothing but cold dirt. This feels like hell itself. Yet you are surrounded by gigantic, grotesquely obese men. These figures do not eat ordinary food. They grow fat on the negative energy you release, every act of procrastination, every time you quit on yourself, every secret indulgence in what you know is wrong.

Each vice has its own monstrous representative: lust, addiction, rage, laziness, dishonesty, and distraction. The more you feed them, the larger they become until they occupy every inch of space. Then the squeezing starts slow, relentless, and crushing. They squeeze your health, your dreams, your finances, your relationships, and your soul.

This pit is the reality of a life lived without God and without repentance. The dirt all around you is precisely what such a life delivers: emptiness and decay. In a society increasingly void of divine purpose, vices flourish and slowly kill what is good in us.

We see the tragic results everywhere. Young boys with promising futures are arrested and imprisoned as one small habit spirals into destruction. Marriages that once held love and hope collapse under the weight of betrayal, addiction, and neglect. Talented young people watch their dreams die while trapped in cycles of distraction and self-sabotage. A generation is trading real purpose for cheap dopamine, only to wake up feeling emptier.

These are not isolated failures. They are the direct consequences of feeding the beasts within. Every unchecked vice grows stronger and takes more from us, our time, our money, our peace, and our future.

Yet no pit is completely sealed. There is an opening at the top where sunlight waits. You do not need perfect strength to escape. You only need to lift your hand. Many have found that in that honest moment of surrender and repentance, help comes. Sometimes it feels like a mighty hand pulling you up. Sometimes it arrives as a rope, a timely word, a moment of clarity, renewed strength, or unexpected support. God works in mysterious ways, but He answers the upward reach.

The squeezing does not have to be your final story. The time to act is now, before the vices consume all remaining space. Starve the beasts. Reach upward. The same dirt that once held you captive can become the ground from which you rise.

The future of Eswatini depends on individuals who refuse to remain in the pit.
